  • Apply any font of any color, size and font decoration you need. Use any available type, color and thickness of a menu's frame. Choose any color for submenus and items backgrounds.
  • Set the size of the menu in percent, pixels, or other units. This menu may have a relative (it can be inserted into the table, for example) or absolute position .
  • Specify various values for spacing and padding for the whole menu and for each separate submenu.

Q: I want to use this menu with ASP. Can the link items NOT open a new window?
For ASP the current window needs to be used with whatever value is in the link parameter.


A: JavaSript menu uses window.open or href-method depending on the target parameter.
If you set "" or "_self" target the menu uses href-method and if youset "_blank" or frame name the menu uses window.open and opens your link in a new window.

You should use the following parameter
  var titemTarget = "_self";
or
  var titemTarget = "";

Please, see also individual items targets, for example:
{|The Team, http://www.domain.co.uk/receptionist.htm, _blank,}
Change "_blank" to "" or to "_self".


Q: Is there a way to capture which dhtml web menu item was clicked and store that information into a database?

Q: My site requires me to regularly update the drop down menu by inserting a new item at the top of the list.


A: Add items using the following function:

function dm_ext_addItemPos (menuInd, submenuInd, iParams, Pos)

Adds the new item to a submenu.

menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.

iParams = [array] - the array of item parameters.
This parameter has the same structure as an item in menuItems array.
You can assign parameters of another existent item of the menu
(for example, when you want to create a duplicate of the existent item) or create new ones.

Structure of iParams:
[item_text, link, icon_normal, icon_over, tip, target, individual_style_index, jsFilename]
Pos - the position in the menu where you want to add new item.
