  • Build right-click menus for your site. For this purpose you should appoint a peculiar method for the object you want. The current X,Y of the mouse pointer or your own ones can be used for the context menu.
  • Design menus absolutely based on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It is possible to apply the personal CSS styles for every elements of the menu.
  • When the submenu is bigger than the visible page area, the size of submenu will be automatically decreased. To view all the submenu items you do not need to use scrollbars or something like that - just put your mouse to the bottom of a submenu and it will be automagically scrolled! Q: Is there any way to keep a menu lit up when going to another page? Or do the menus always have to default back to their normal state?
I want the menu to know what page the user is on and keep that section highlighted. Any ideas?


A: You should set a pressed item using Javascript API:

function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.


Q: How to include the search box in the navigation menubar?

A: Use the following javascript menu parameter to enable/disable the "search support" for the Deluxe menu:

  var dmSearch=2;

0-nosearch; 1-ordinary search (within one level of submenus only); 2-recursive (within the whole menu).

Set item's link to "search:", for example:

["","search:value='search...' style='border:1px;width:60px;height:14;font-size:10px;'", "", ],

Q: Is there a way to have the menu stay expanded in the same exact state when
I click on a menu item of the javascript tree view and go to a new page?

A: There is no need to write additional code on a server side to remember what items were expanded/collapsed.
DHTML Tree Menu can save items state automatically.

Set the following parameter:

  var tsaveState = 1;

and the menu remembers its structure for each user who visit your page.
Try to expand/collapse items. Then reload the page and you'll see results.


Q: I'm trying to display the submenus to the left of the menu. I searched your questions and found one that said to use the following:
  var smViewType=2;
I added this but it didn't do anything.
