You should write your menu items in the following way:

Q: There seems to be a small checkered rectangle at the top of button menu that I would like to see disappear.

If you want your menu to stay movable you should set the followingparameters to delete rectangle at the top.

Q: I know. I have two menus on the page and I am not using beforeItemImage orafterItemImage for the top menu in javascript (the one you referenced below), but I need it for the second menu. The parameters for that menu are in mainnav_data.js.

Even when I only call dmWorkPath and dmenu.js once, it does not work.

A: See, it is not correctly to use image-based items:

You can create such buttons in the following ways:
1) Use image-based menu (images with text).

You cannot use these two methods together!


Q: For the dhtml tree that I purchased, can I choose what menus will be expanded or collapsed when the user first comes to the webpage forthe first time?

A: You can expand some items by default.
Add '+' sign before items text in that case:
