Q: I purchased the most recent version of "Deluxe Menu & Tree & Tabs & Window Multiple Website License", and now can't open menus from previous versions. When I try to open a custom drop down menu that was created in an older version, I get the error:

Can't open the file:
c:\webs\ltron\ltronmenudata.js
Check youre encode parameter

This happens on all of the older menus that we're trying to update............Do I have to run some type of conversion program on older menu files?

Please let me know as quickly as possible.........we have over 100 custom drop down menus out there and now it seems that we can't edit them!

A: This message means that you should change the encoding:

"Tools/Use utf8 encode"

Change this setting and then open your data files.



Q: I found some strange things while positioning the javascript hide menu. Does javascript hide menu behave different depending on where you are hosting your site?

A: Deluxe Menu is a Javascript product. It means that it works on aclient side only and it doesn't depend on the server which you're using.

Create us an example and send us a direct link to this example on bothhosting. We need to check it.



Q: What do you recommend for "remembering" the tab in the js tab menu,
so that when the page reloads the correct tab is highlighted.

A: Deluxe Tabs doesn't support API functions which can return theselected tab aslo.

You can set "bselectedItem" and "  var bselectedSmItem" parametersbased on your link before you call your data file.

For example, move "  var bselectedItem" and "  var bselectedSmItem" parametersfrom your data file to your code.

You should define seltabs and selsmtabs using server side script.

You can also set it on every page before you call data.js file, forexample:

Q: I think that your product is great makes everything look nice and professional with the drop down menu Items. My question is I have certain menu Items that I will need to disable at certain times. I do this now using a standard button and grabbing my parameters from an SQL database. Is there a way for me to basically pull which menu items I need disabled and present the customized menu for each client. I have read that your product has this ability I was looking for a little guidance or maybee a write up on someone that has done this.


A: Unfortunately, Deluxe Menu doesn't have such a feature.
You should write your own code, for example, on PHP.

You can try to use the following function

function disable() {
dm_ext_changeItem(1, 1, 1, ["", "", "", "", "", "_"]);
}
to disable your items.
