Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • Use a mouse to move a menu as a usual window. Also you can create the menu where each submenu can be "separated" from the menu (MS Office toolbar-like mode).
  • When the page is scrolled the menu remains visible. The menu can "float" along one or two coordinate axes.
  • There can be multilevel menus - create as many rows of the menu as necessary. Any submenu in its turn can include different number of columns.

Q: I have set the 'Home' page link from the top level of the menu 'Item style' top Item, to link to my Index page, but the link doesn't work. Is there a special way to set linksfrom the main menu headings?

A: You cannot use links for the main items in the XP style.

But you can try to do the following things for your "Home" item:

["<a href='index.html' class='home'>Home</a>","", "", "", "", "Return to Index page", "", "0", "", ],

And create styles
.home{
color: #FFFFFF;}
.home:hover{
color: #FFBEBE;}




Q: Is there a way to programmatical select an item in the scrolling menu without the user actual click on the item?

A: You can set a pressed item using Javascript API:

function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.




Q: I'm having trouble getting some of my dhtml menus free opening in the frm2. If you look under products, then Hard drives, then Rugged Airborne .....this one and Rugged Ground will not open in frm2 but the Contact Us and Get Quote are working fine. Can you help me get these things to open in a frm2.

A: You should write your menu items correctly.

Now you have
   ["||Rugged Airborne","../RuggedAirborne.htm","Airborne,"frm2","0", ],
   ["||Rugged Ground","../RuggedGround.htm","Ground","frm2","0", ],
it is not correct.

You should write:
   ["||Rugged Airborne","../RuggedAirborne.htm","","","Airborne,"frm2","0", ],
   ["||Rugged Ground","../RuggedGround.htm","","","Ground","frm2","0", ],



Q: We have a problem. If the "sub menus" open downward (in a horizontal menu) and there is Flash under it, the menu disappears. It goes BEHIND the flash and can't be seen.

Is there a fix for this?

I honestly don't recall it happening before but it now does. I probably didn't pay attention. Thank you!
