Q: Is there any way to call a javascript function on mouseover from a menu item?

A: You can use your own javascript functions in the menu items.

You should paste "javascript:some_function()" into item's link field, for example:

  var menuItems = [
["text", "javascript:your_function(...)", ...]
];

  var menuItems = [
["item text", "javascript:alert('Hello World')", , , , ,]
];

Unfortunately, you can't assign onmouseover/onClick event to each item. However, you can achieve this by using standard html objects within items, for example:

  var menuitems = [
["<div onMouseover='your_code_here'>item text</div>", "index.html"]
];



Q: How can I place the dhtml pull down menu onto multiple pages using FrontPage 2000? I am not using CSS. Do I need to copy the html into all of the pages, or just place the script into each page?

A: Yes, you should paste the following html code on your pages:

Q: I am having a lot of trouble trying to get the menu to work properly. I want to make sure that I get it working before I make the licesning purchase.

The menu is to be CSS based but while I have the main menu somewhat in location, none of the settings are correct. Can you help?


A: See, the problem is that the script can't get css properties of the object if they are described in separate .css block (or file).
To get the value you should move .css style into style="POSITION: relative;" attribute.

Please, try to add your
css file -> inline css

Try to write so:
<DIV id=if-navbar style="POSITION: relative;">

How can retrieve id of the parent menu?


A: You can try to use the following function

function dm_ext_getSubmenuParams (menuInd, submenuInd)

Returns submenu parameters in the array:
[submenu_id, items_count, parent_item_id, submenu_level, is_horizontal]

menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.

Using this function you can retrieve the parent_item_id.
