Q: Is there any way to keep a menu lit up when going to another page? Or do the menus always have to default back to their normal state?
I want the menu to know what page the user is on and keep that section highlighted. Any ideas?


A: You should set a pressed item using Javascript API:

function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.


Q: I am trying out your menu and I've made out a little test case in the attached file.

If you run it, you will see that the horizontal drop down menu css scrollsOUTSIDE the container div to the edges of the window. Is there anyway I can make the hhorizontal drop down menu css be within the container div and yet scroll?

And will the solution be cross-browser?

Note that menuDiv needs to have a collapsableDiv style. I am assuming that that is not a problem.

A: Try to set exact width for the submenu:

Q: Do I need to replace the menudir/ in the code with the name of the folder I have placed the .js files?


A: Yes, you should change the name of the folder.

If you have, for example such file structure:

So, you should install your menu in the following way:

Q: I am having a problem creating a submenu. I did not get any js errors but nothing happens.

What I have found is that even when I have dynamic=1;
I was getting an error saying object expected so I added the dmenu_dyn.js manually (i.e. <scripttype="text/javascript"src="../../Javascript/menu/dmenu_dyn.js"></script>) but now get no errors but no submenu is created.

Do I have to add all the js files in the menu folder manually as I thought it was just
<scripttype="text/javascript"src="../../Javascript/menu/dmenu.js"></script>
that was needed.

All, I am trying to add a submenu under the challenge topmenu.

A: There is no need to add all engine files into your menu folder.
You can add only
dmenu.js
dmenu_dyn.js
