Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • There can be multi level menus - create as many rows or columns of the menu as you want.
  • Use a mouse to drag a menu as a usual window. Also you can construct the menu where each submenu can be "detached" from the main menu (MSOfficeToolbarLike mode).
  • When the page is scrolled the menu remains visible. The DHTML menu can "float" along one or two coordinate axes.

Q: I am trying out your menu and I've made out a little test case in the attached file.

If you run it, you will see that the horizontal drop down menu css scrollsOUTSIDE the container div to the edges of the window. Is there anyway I can make the hhorizontal drop down menu css be within the container div and yet scroll?

And will the solution be cross-browser?

Note that menuDiv needs to have a collapsableDiv style. I am assuming that that is not a problem.

A: Try to set exact width for the submenu:

  var smWidth="925px";



Q: Does your site navigation menu support RTL Pages? How hard it is to convert it this way?

A:   var dmRTL = 0;

Set this parameter to 1 if you're using right-to-left direction of html page <HTML dir=rtl>.

Q: I need to be able to highlight the selected menu en dhtml item of the Deluxe Menu.

A: Deluxe Menu has only two states normal and mouseover.

Try to do the following things:

- delete   var pressedItem=1; parameter from your menu en dhtml data file
- set correct parameter on each page before you call data file, forexample:

You can also set a pressed item using Javascript API:

function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.



Q: I am still struggling with multiple menus on one page.
It is probably something I am doing wrong, but I cannot see it.


A: Now you have:

  var absolutePos=1;
  var posX="10";
  var posY="10";


So, both of your menus have the same absolute position.

You can use relative position and place your menu inside <table>. In this case you should write so:

  var absolutePos=0;
