Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • Create contextual menus for your pages. For this purpose you should assign a special function for the object you want. The current coordinates of the mouse pointer or your own ones can be used for the contextual menu.
  • When the submenu is larger than the visible area of the page the submenu will be automatically decreased. To see all the submenu items you do not need to use scrollbars or something like that - just put your mouse to the bottom of a submenu and it will be automatically scrolled! You can also specify height and width for each separate submenu.
  • Build menus completely based on Cascading Style Sheets. It is possible to appoint the individual CSS styles for separate elements of the menu.

Q: I have set up a menu that uses one 'data.js' file.
However, on ONE page, the menu needs to have three additional items, with a different style.
Is there a way to add the three items with a different style via javascript on that one page?
I think I know how to handle the styles, but I'm unsure how to add the three new items without using two differerent 'data.js' files- which is how I have it set up for the time being. You may want to visit the site to see what I mean.

A: You can use dm_ext_addItem() function to add items.

Please, see how you should write this function:
function dm_ext_addItem (menuInd, submenuInd, iParams)

< SCRIPT src="Welcome to Catawba Animal Clinic, P_A_files/data.js" type=text/javascript> </SCRIPT>
<script type="text/javascript"> dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["Boarding Request Form","request.htm", , , , "_self", "0", "-1", , ]);</script>
<script type="text/javascript"> dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["Boarding Policies","", , , , , "0", , , ]);</script>
<script type="text/javascript"> dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["Express Checkout Info","", , , , , "0", , , ]);</script>

You should upload dmenu_dyn.js file on your server.

In your data.js file you should add need Individual Item Styles.

Q: I have started with the deluxe - looks a little more confusing, but I will persist.

Just to confirm that this is right for me.

1) Will deluxe load quickly?.
2) Will it work with most browsers? Or will user need to download some sort of java file?
3) Can I use it with dreamweaver?

A: 1) Deluxe Menu generally loads faster than other page elements.
It is possible that the speed of showing the menu can be lower if the menu is very large. But it doesn't take so much time.

2) Deluxe Menu works fine in most of browsers on Windows OS, MAC OS, Linux/Unix OS.
More info you can find here:
http://deluxe-menu.com/browsers-info.html

You don't have to install additional software.
Your customer should change security settings in IE to allow Javascript on pages he loads.

When your security settings in IE doesn't allow Javascript onpages you load you can't see a dynamic page content.

There is no way to enable these preferences automatically, in othercase there are no reasons to create security preferences.

3) Deluxe Menu wasn't developed as Dreamweaver/Frontpage extension,BUT you can use it as standard Javascript files. To install the menuinto your html page:

1. open the page in Dreamweaver/Frontpage
2. open html source code of the page
3. add several rows of code (<script> tags), For info see:
http://deluxe-menu.com/installation-info.html

That's all.
To create and configure your menus use Deluxe Tuner application(included into the trial package):

Q: We have a question and a problem.

This is a link to our website with your menue:

http://domain.bon.at/philosophie.html

Down the navigation point "FAQґs" is a submenue like darm, diverses, einlagen etc....)

If you click on a link in this submenue a new window open _BLANK!

Is it possible to open the new site in a popup in dhtml drop down menu, like 800 x 600 or something?

A: You should paste the following code inside 'Link' field of menuItems (you can do it inDeluxe Tuner):

javascript:window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank','height=600,width=800, status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no');

Q: I really like how this works and I think it will wind up working for us, but I have a question. On the xp style dynamic tree menu, is there a way when you click one of the 'headers' that will open up other choices for example on your http://www.deluxe-tree.com/data-samples/tree-menuxp3.html tree. When youclick either the deluxe tree:xp style or the samples gallery or the samples gallery2 section, can you make it so it opens a page in another frame? The way it is now you it wont open a page until you click on the 'samples block 1' or below.

A: Actually you cannot use links for the top items in the XP Style.
But theoretically you can use links for the top items. You can write

["<a href='index.html' class='home' target="frame">Home</a>","", "", "", "", "Return to Index page", "", "0", "", ],
["<a href='http://www.domain.uk' class='home' target="frame">About Us</a>","", "", "", "", "", "", "0", "", ],
 ["|Introduction","http://www.domain.uk/introduction.htm", "", "", "", "", "", "", "", ],
