Q: I'm looking at evaluating your Deluxe menu software for inclusion in our current web based software solution and am particularly taken with the 'Ajax style' loading.
Could you please answer a couple of questions with respect to that.
At what point does it load those file ¦ initially when menu is drawn (so multiple small hits to app server) or when the user selects the menu? Does the link href *have* to be a .js file ¦ or can it be any valid file type that returns the correct data? I have to generate the menu options dynamically from a DB and therefore really need to include a JSP style file.
Our current menu system (made up of 4 levels deep contains over 300 links, which is why I want to minimise server hit as much as possible!
A: It loads when the user move his mouse above the menu items.
You can use any extension for these files. But the file structureshould be the same as in our example.
Q: I am not professional website developer … I’ve installed your trial software … but not able to add navigation menu tree in my website. Can you please guide me how I can add tree menus in left side bar of website?
A: Unfortunately we don't have step by step tutorial yet.
We'll try to create it in the nearest time.
1. Create your menu in Deluxe Tuner application.
You can create any menu you like in Deluxe Tuner.
You can use ready to use templates. You can find them in the templateswindow.
When you open Deluxe Tuner ( Deluxe Tree ) you can click "File/New"and add items and subitems using buttons "Add Item" and "Add Subitem" onthe main window.
You should set items and subitems parameters on the "Item Parameters"window.
See also other parameters for the menu on the main window.
More info about menu parameters you can find on our site
http://www.deluxe-tree.com/parameters-info.html
You can also use Individual Styles for items and subitems.
2. You should install the tree menu on your page.
You can click, for example, File/Export to HTML.
Add several rows into your html page.
<head>
...
<!-- Deluxe Tree -->
<noscript><a href="http://deluxe-tree.com">Javascript Tree Menu by Deluxe-Tree.com</a></noscript>
<script type="text/javascript"> var tWorkPath="deluxe-tree.files/";</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="deluxe-tree.files/dtree.js"></script>
<!-- (c) 2006 - 2007, http://deluxe-tree.com -->
...
</head>
<body>
...
<table>
<tr><td><script type="text/javascript" src="menudir/data-tree.js"></script> </td></tr> //data-tree.js - data file created in Deluxe Tuner.
</table>
...
</body>
You should also copy all engine files
dtree.js - menu engine file
dtree_add.js - additional module for floatable/movable menus
dtree_dyn.js - additional module with Javascript API to change the menu "on-the-fly"
dtree_ajax.js - additional module with the AJAX-like support
into "deluxe-tree.files/" folder. You should place this folder in thesame folder with your index.html page.
Try that.
Q: I am using JavaScript Deluxe Menu v3.1 and have some problem with the doctype declaration. If I use the declaration:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
the menuBackImage and itemBackImage images do not display properly. Check with and without doctype declaration. Is there a known fix for this?
A: You should specify units in "px" for the javascript menu object.
var itemPadding="15px 10px 0px 20px";
var menuStyles = [
["smColumns=2","itemPadding=25px 10px 10px 10px"],
["itemPadding=25px 10px 10px 20px"],
["menuBackImage=img/nahbp_1.gif","itemPadding=25px 10px 10px 20px"],
];
Q: I need a navigation bar dhtml where on the click of certain items, server side code on the page can be called and executed.
I need to create a multiple item select menu. Sothe menu would need to remain open and allow a user to selectmultiple items and would either submit onmouseout or maybe a “submitthese selections” menu item.
A: You can try to use Deluxe Tree in that case:
http://deluxe-tree.com
You can paste any html code inside item text, see example here:
http://deluxe-tree.com/data-samples/tree-menu1.js
["+Support", "", "icon5_t.gif", "icon5_to.gif", "", "Support Tip"],
["|Index <select style='width:120px;height:17px;font:normal 10px Tahoma,Arial;'><option>Section 1<option>Section 2<option>Section 3</select>", "", "", "", "", "","", "0"],
["|Search <input type=text style='width:80px;height:17px;font:normal 10px Tahoma,Arial;'> <input type=button value='Go'style='width:30px;height:17px;font:normal 10px Tahoma,Arial;'>", "", "", "", "", "", "", "0"],
["|Write Us", "mailto:[email protected]", ""],
["|<INPUT TYPE=checkbox CHECKED ID=chk1 onclick='choosebox1()'>Uncheck this check box for some free advice","","","",],
["<img src='img/sep.gif' width=113 height=1>"],
You should also add your own code, so your checkbox will workcorrectly.
