Q: Does this mean that nothing needs to be installed on the server side to make javascript menu?

Here is why I am asking this:

We have a main "corporate" web site, which is going to use the Deluxe Menu. One of the links on the main site will launch a page, which is running on a separate web server (physically separate server, and not a load-balancing scenario). Since all of these pages should look identical to the users, they all have to use the exact same configuration and look&feel in Deluxe Menu. I was wondering if any "configuration" type settings are stored on the server. In other words, would we have to maintain the Deluxe Menu install on two separate servers?

A: There is no need to install anything on your server. You should onlycopy a folder with all engine files (dmenu.js, dmenu_add.js, ...) anddata file on your server. Then you should call these files on yourpages, for example:

Actually you can copy deluxe menu files on the one server only anduse absolute paths.

Q: I am having two issues. 1. I am trying to create Deluxe-Tabs similar to the one here:
http://deluxe-tabs.com/file/templates/deluxe-tabs-style-4.html.
I do not see the feature for making the content in each of the event tabs. How is that done?

2. The second issue is that I am using a Deluxe-Menu on www.domain.com/default and when I navigate [ Activities > Football (ACTIVE LINK) ] for example, the link goes to the new page, but it does not keep the menu on the page. I am using master pages and the menu is on themain-master-page.

A: 1) You should paste your content in the <div> .. </div> tags.

You can use Object ID as well as Link in both modes. Use the following prefixes within item's link field:
"object:" - means that there is object id after it;
"link:" - means that there is a link after it.
"javascript:" - means that there is a javascript code after it, for example:javascript:alert(\'Hello!\')

So, you should write for example:

2) You have incorrect page structure.

Now you have several HEAD, BODY tags on your pages. It is not correct.

You should check your page structure.

Q: We have two frames in a frameset, one for the menu and one for the content where the javascript menu frame expands normally without any problem. Our content frame's source is determined dynamically. The problem occurs when the content frame contains a page with another frameset in it. Unfortunately we can not avoid this for now. And when this happens our menu stops expanding.

A: Unfortunately it is really possible that you'll have problems in thatcase because the index of the content frame will be changed.

For example now you have:

Your init function will be:
dm_initFrame("frmSet", 0, 1, 0);

But if you'll have frameset instead of content frame:

</frameset>
You should write your init function in the following way:
dm_initFrame("frmSet", 0, 2, 0);

You should change your javascript menu frame init function in that case.



Q: I’m interested in adding cascading navigation bar to a website that was written in Microsoft Frontpage.

A: Deluxe Menu wasn't developed as Dreamweaver/Frontpage/Yahoo SiteBuilder extension,
BUT you can use it as standard Javascript files. To install the menuinto your html page:

1. open the page in your program
2. open html source code of the page
3. add several rows of code (<script> tags).
