Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • Build right-click menus for your site. For this purpose you should appoint a peculiar method for the object you want. The current X,Y of the mouse pointer or your own ones can be used for the context menu.
  • Design menus absolutely based on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It is possible to apply the personal CSS styles for every elements of the menu.
  • When the submenu is bigger than the visible page area, the size of submenu will be automatically decreased. To view all the submenu items you do not need to use scrollbars or something like that - just put your mouse to the bottom of a submenu and it will be automagically scrolled! Q: I wonder if you can help me. I've uploaded all my files, including the menus to the client site.
All the menus were working fine, where each link was targeted to the frame "mainFrame" in the middle of the page. This morning, all the css javascript menu link targets don't work anymore. That is, the targeting info has not changed but the linked pages are opening up as a _parent page -- that is, replacing the entire page.


A: You should use absolute paths.

See the url browser tried to open:

http://domain.com/a_bp/bpdoc/3sell/32_sales_order_management/321_sales_order/
7operations/72_monitor_operations/index.html

instead of:

http://domain.com/7operations/72_monitor_operations/index.html

  var pathPrefix_link = "http://domain.com/pages/";

These parameter allows to make links paths absolute.
For example:

  var pathPrefix_link = "http://domain.com/pages/";

  var menuItems = [
["text", "index.html", "icon1.gif", "icon2.gif"],
];

So, link path will be look so:
http://domain.com/pages/index.html

Please, try to use this parameter.


Q: I'm trying to evaluate the possiblity of using your menu in our product. Can we specify our own onclick event handler for the menu item?


A: You're able to use Javascript for each item, for example:

  var menuitems = [
["item text", "javascript:your_code_here"]
];

Unfortunately, you can't assign onmouseover/onClick event to each item.
However, you can achieve this by using standard html objects within items, for example:

  var menuitems = [
["<div onClick='your_code_here'>item text</div>", "index.html"]
];


Q: Go to the "products", then to "Furnaces" or "Humidifiers". Seethe sub menu js items ending with "0"? See how they seem to be cut off on the very far right edge?

A: This is a feature of Firefox 3.0.3.

You'll have such effect if you'll use Trebuchet MS font andtransparency for submenus.

Try to use another font, or set
  var transparency="100";

Q: By the way, this is an issue at your site, too...

Have a look at

FireFox - when hovering over the Product Info or Samples buttons, the Deluxe Menu flash element disappears behind the drop-down menu.

I notice this pages states: "If for some reasons a submenu can't drop down over an object the latter will be hidden for a time when the submenu is shown.".


A: Unfortunately, it is really so.
Now there is no work around for this.
We'll try to fix this bug in the future version of Deluxe Menu.
