Q: I am using your javascript menu over. I have had a report today that the menu is problematic with IE8. As follows:

"A bit more of a concern is in IE8 where the menu does not function correctly in general at all. When you hover over the menu text the sub menu appears, but when you move your mouse across to select an item off the sub menu it closes. "

Are you able to confirm and rectify his problem?

A: Yes, our menu has some problems with IE8, because IE8 is a betaversion and has just a part of future functionality, for exampleit still doesn't have filters.

We're planning to add the full support for IE8as well as for all major browsers.
All issues will be fixed with final version of IE8.



Q: The spacing between each item of the top horizontal dropdown menu is uneven but I don't know why.

If you highlight them all it becomes more obvious.

It is almost as if the space after a 2 word link is twice the space after a one word link or else the total space after each link is related to the number of letters in the link.

For example the space after 'Discounts' is greater than the space after 'Home' but the space after 'Envelope Printing' is even greater.

A: You can try to set the following horizontal dropdown menu parameters:

Q: I need your help. I built a menu with your software, and I followed all your instructions on placing it on my web page, but it's not working. The drop down menu in javascript will not go into its table cell. I have a flash banner in the cell above it, and the menu seems to be behind that banner, but the menu is not even inside the table.

I also tried placing the drop down menu in javascript on another page where I do not have a flash banner, but it doesn't show up at all.

A: You've set absolute position for the drop down menu in javascript

You should set:

dm_ext_changeItemVisibility (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, visibility)

I have 5 items in the javascript toolbar menu : Admin Options, Status Report, Remarks, Edit Profile, Data Entry.

I want to disable some fields for different users.
I have 3 role id's set in my database.
I want certain fields disabled for different users.
For eg : For Roleid =1 , i.e admin , I want all items to be visible.
For Roleid =2 , i dont want the Admin Options to be visible.
For Roleid=3 , I dont want Admin Options & Status reports.

Can you please elaborate on the working of the changeItemVisibility function. I was confused as there were no examples to demonstrate the code.
