2.0 Buttons by Web-Buttons.com v3.0.0

Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • Use a mouse to move a menu as a usual window. Also you can create the menu where each submenu can be "separated" from the menu (MS Office toolbar-like mode).
  • When the page is scrolled the menu remains visible. The menu can "float" along one or two coordinate axes.
  • There can be multilevel menus - create as many rows of the menu as necessary. Any submenu in its turn can include different number of columns.

Q: We are having a bit of trouble with your menu, when you go down into a sub menu, and then back to the item that called it, the sub menu expands.

For example, if i have this menu structure

File
     New
     Save
     Exit

When i MouseOver New and then MouseOver File, the menu containing New, Save and Exit will grow. If i keep doing this then the menu will continue to expand horizontally.

I know its something we have done, since there doesn't seem to be a problem on your site, its just i don't know what it is

A: Rozi, we heard about such problems. I suppose that you see such effectin IE.

Please, try not to use shadow in the menu.
Please, set this parameter:
  var shadowLen=0;

We'll correct this bug soon.

Try also write all units in "px", for example:

  var itemPadding = "3px";

Q: As a part-time webdeveloper I have gotten very interested in your product. I really appreciate a number of things

- it's very flexible
- it's very easy to work with
- examples nicely show the capabilities

But I have a couple of questions:

- When opening a menu, there is an option for keeping the menu-item that has been pressed hightlighed (so that the user can see what he/she pressed). Is it possible, programmatically, to decide when this highlighting should be removed? The scenario is that, when a menu-item is clicked the used might browse for a couple of pages within the context defined by the menu-item, but when the user leaves, the menu-item should no longer be highlighted. I will (programmatically) decide the context, but is it possible for me to interact with the menu, and for example decide explicitly which menu should be highlighted?
- Our design department would like the menu containing the elements: "Skovdrift, Juletreer, Skovrejsning, etc". Please notice that "Brende" is supposed to show a menu item that is hightlighted. Is is possible to create this menu such that it is dynamic and each item is text-based (and not based on two pictures for each menu-entry: hightlighted and not)? I've been wondering how to solve this problem, but I cannot figure out a solution. The problem that I is stuck at, is how organise this speciel "frame" around each menu-element. Something that be partly accomplished using "arrowImageMain", but that does not bring me all the way. Please notice that the menu-items might not have any sub-menu.

A: I suppose that you're saying about
  var pressedItem=-2;
Defines an item that will appear in the highlighted state
(-2 - normal mode, -1 - toggle mode is active, but highlighted item not defined, 0,1,2,3,... - # of pressed item including separators)

This parameter will not approach you.

You should set a pressed item using Javascript API:

function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.

Q: I have a big problem with a trial version of deluxe menu - javascript tree builder.

if I save a testwork from me, minutes later I will open this... then come a message:

can't open the file:

you should change the encoding: "Tools/use utf8 encode"

Change this setting and open your data files.

What's that supposed to mean?

I am grateful when you give me an answer, thx.

A: Try to change the encoding: "Tools/use utf8 encode" and open your datafile.

Q: I've finally got it working and it looks good. So thanks. But... unfortunally there's still a small problem wich occured after I got everything else working: No matter if I set the parmeter "  var texpanded" to '1' or '0' it expands by default tree menu javascript. Why?

I also have another question I forgot to ask you about earlier: Originally I only had the data.js file but in the non-profit zip file you gave me there was no "data.js" file, only "data-tree.js". Wich one will the script use? Do I need both? The javascript call I put where I want the menu to appear calls for "DATA. js". So what good does the "data-TREE.js" file do?

I include the "data.js" file if you need to have a look at it. The "data-tree. js" file is identical now that I changed all the "  var tmenuItems" at the bottom). (The "menu.html" I guess you can look at yourself by "View source".)

Also, the submenus where I would like to put XP style menus are not finished yet but for now I have the same "tree" script in them. They are under "DART/dartspel.html", and on six artist discographys under MUSIK: Edguy, Katie Melua, Joe Satriani, Michael Schenker, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Magnus Uggla. This is if you'ld like to see the sub pages where I use other "copys" of Deluxe-tree. (I hope you don't mind that the "Illegal copyright" nag is very small. It's supposed to dissapear anyway with the new Non-profit license).

A: 1) See the structure of your tmenuItems is incorrect now.

You should write:
["->HEM (Klicka f?r meny)","welcome.html", "data.files/hem.gif", "data.files/hem2.gif", "data.files/hem.gif", "Startsidan", "right", "", ],
Without '|' symbol in the beginning.

2) You should write tleft parameter correctly. Now you have:

//--- Positioning
  var tabsolute=1;
  var tleft="00px";
  var ttop="10px";

Write it in the following way:
  var tleft="10px";

3) data-tree.js file is the default tree menu javascript file. There is no need to use it if you already haveyour data.js file.
