Q: Typically in order to generate a menu with multiple layers I’d put a pipe character in front of the menu text.. For example:
["|Page Admin","/admin/handoutadmin.php", , , , "_new", , , , ],
["||Student Pages","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=1", , , , "_new", , , , ],
["||Teacher Pages","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=2", , , , "_new", , , , ],
["||Family Letters","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=4", , , , "_new", , , , ],
["||Transparencies","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=3", , , , "_new", , , , ],
However, when I try to do it with dm_ext_addItem it actually SHOWS the pipe character and doesn’t create any menu levels at all.
For example:
dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["Add a Handout to this Lesson", "", "", "", "", "", ""]);
dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["|Student Page","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=$type", "", "", "", "_new", ""]);
dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["|Teacher Page","/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=$type", "", "", "", "_new", ""]);
How can I generate multiple levels of the menu with javascript?
A: I suppose that your code is not valid
dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["|Teacher Page", "/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=$type", "", "", "", "_new", ""]);
Try to write it in the following way:
dm_ext_addItem(0, 0, ["|Teacher Page", "/admin/handoutadmin.php?type=", "", "", "", "_new", ""]);
Q: Here is a snapshot from the javascript drop down menu:
["admin","/Main/Administration.asp", "", "", "", "", "1", "", "", ],
["|test1","http://www.vg.no", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "", ],
["|test2","/Main/Setup.asp", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "", ],
If I click on test1 which is a Norwegian newspaper, it works.
But it I click on test2 which is a link to my page – it does not work.
A: You cannot use "" symbols within menuItems. It is not correct.
Try to write your javascript drop down menu items in the following way:
["admin","/Main/Administration.asp", "", "", "", "", "1", "", "", ],
["|test1","http://www.vg.no", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "", ],
["|test2","/Main/Setup.asp", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "", ],
Q: Thank you for your prompt reply. But i was wondering where should I paste this code? Can you please explain the working of the javascript toolbar menu function
dm_ext_changeItemVisibility (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, visibility)
I have 5 items in the javascript toolbar menu : Admin Options, Status Report, Remarks, Edit Profile, Data Entry.
I want to disable some fields for different users.
I have 3 role id's set in my database.
I want certain fields disabled for different users.
For eg : For Roleid =1 , i.e admin , I want all items to be visible.
For Roleid =2 , i dont want the Admin Options to be visible.
For Roleid=3 , I dont want Admin Options & Status reports.
Can you please elaborate on the working of the changeItemVisibility function. I was confused as there were no examples to demonstrate the code.
A: Notice also that you should set
var dynamic=1;
parameter to use API functions.
Q: After creating and using a menu, is it possible to insert/change the position of a menu item?
For instance, I am using years in a submenu and the current year always needs to be at the top.
Is this possible with drag and drop or by some other means in the Tuner v2?
A: Yes you can do it.
You can find all info in our Help.
