Q: I am trying to have the selected top menu w dhtml item remain on the mouseover event after it is selected. It seemed to be working fine when i was just testing with # as a link but when i actually linked to different pages it returns to normal. How do i get this to work.
I tried removing the variable from the data file and calling it using
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript1.2"> var pressedItem=set 1,2,3 depending on page </script>
but this does not seem to work as it does for tabs.
A: You can find more info here:
http://www.deluxe-menu.com/highlighted-items-sample.html
Deluxe Menu has only two states normal and mouseover.
Try to do the following things:
- delete var pressedItem=1; parameter from your data file
- set correct parameter on each page before you call data file, forexample:
<noscript><a href="http://deluxe-menu.com">menu w dhtml by Deluxe-Menu.com</a></noscript>
<script type="text/javascript"> var dmWorkPath = "menudir/";</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="menudir/dmenu.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript"> var pressedItem=3;</script>
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="menudir/data.js"></script>
You can also set a pressed item using Javascript API:
function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)
Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.
But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.
Q: Javascript menu frame Borders are present Firefox but missing in IE7, IE8, Google Chrome, Safari.
Firefox shows the borders ok.
A: You've set the following parameters in this menu:
var menuBorderColor="#FF9191 #FF7837 #E10000 #952D00 ";
var menuBorderWidth=3;
var menuBorderStyle="";
You should specify style for your border, for example:
var menuBorderStyle="solid";
See the attached example. I cannot notice such issue on Safari forWin. Write what version you're using.
Change also
var fontStyle=["normal 8pt Verdana,normal 8pt Verdana","normal 8pt Verdana,normal 8pt Verdana"];
to
var fontStyle=["normal 8pt Verdana","normal 8pt Verdana"];Q: How do I apply styles to submenu items that are different from the styles of top javascript drop down menu items? For instance, I want to know how to apply background images for the submenus, but not for the menu items. I also want borders around the submenu ITEMS, not just the entire submenu. Here is the link to my page with the menus. The menu I am referring to is the top right hand menu (black with grey).
A: Create Individual Item and Submenu styles and assign it to your submenu items.
var itemStyles = [
["itemHeight=23px","itemBackImage=deluxe-menu.files/btn_black.gif,deluxe-menu.files/btn_cyan.gif","itemBorderWidth=1","itemBorderStyle=solid,groove","itemBorderColor=#2C2C2C,#FF0000"],
];
var menuStyles = [
["menuBackColor=transparent","menuBorderWidth=0","menuBorderStyle=none","itemSpacing=0","itemPadding=0px 0px 0px 10px"],
];

Assign Individual Items style to all submenu items and Individual Submenu Style for the first item in each submenu.Q: Can I ask a technical question? I am using the menu in a frameset, and I would like for the drop down menu selected branch to sty highlighted after the user moves the mouse to another window (where the menu brings up a new page), just so the user knows where he/she is. Is that possible?
A: But if you open links in the another frame (window) the initial frame with your menu isnot reloaded, so the clicked item will be highlighted.
You should set the following parameters:
var ttoggleMode=1;
var tpressedFontColor="#AAAAAA";
You can also set the following parameter to save menu state:
var tsaveState=1;
var tsavePrefix="menu1";
If you install the menu without frames. On your pages you should call the following function/functions to expand/highlight items, for example:
<script>
dtreet_ext_expandItem (dtreet_ext_getItemIDByIndex (0, 0), 1);
dtreet_ext_setPressedItem (0, dtreet_ext_getItemIDByIndex (0, 1));
</script>
