Q: I am using your javascript menu over. I have had a report today that the menu is problematic with IE8. As follows:

"A bit more of a concern is in IE8 where the menu does not function correctly in general at all. When you hover over the menu text the sub menu appears, but when you move your mouse across to select an item off the sub menu it closes. "

Are you able to confirm and rectify his problem?

A: Yes, our menu has some problems with IE8, because IE8 is a betaversion and has just a part of future functionality, for exampleit still doesn't have filters.

We're planning to add the full support for IE8as well as for all major browsers.
All issues will be fixed with final version of IE8.



Q: My question is regarding the single user license. I am currently writing a website for use on my companies intranet. The machine I am writing it on will unlikely be the machine that it eventually lives on, which could also quite possibly change as well. Looking at the instructions for the license, it seems I require a domain name for the key. The problem is that the current machine I am using is not in DNS, & even if it were, the machine that it will eventually live on will not resolve to the same name (if it even will have a DNS entry in our internal DNS server). So, does the license look for the name that is specified from the client browser, or does it look internally on the web server itself? I am wondering if I set the web servers hosts file or httpd.conf to reference the name given in the license key taht will allow me to transfer the menu to another server?


A: You can register the menu for a domain name or for IP address.
In other words, you should register the menu for the domain name thatyou print in a browser's search string, for example:

http://intranet/folder
http://192.168.0.1


Q: Hello, I am trying to figure out how to use the Dynamic functionality in the java menu codes. I believe I want to use something like the dm_ext_changeItemVisibility function, and I want it to be dependent on HTML wrapped around the menu item.

Below is functionally how I want it to work:

Show menu item 1
Show menu item 2

Show menu item 4

Is there an example you can share that does something like this? I searched the site and could not find an answer.

Q: Why don't any of the effects work in Firefox? I have built several different types of menus and they don't work the same in firefox as they do in IE. Is there a way to fix this? i.e. adding any html code or anything?


A: Yes, it is really so. Firefox supports only transparency of the menu.
Visual effects work in IE only. other browsers don't support them.
