  • Create contextual menus for your pages. For this purpose you should assign a special function for the object you want. The current coordinates of the mouse pointer or your own ones can be used for the contextual menu.
  • When the submenu is larger than the visible area of the page the submenu will be automatically decreased. To see all the submenu items you do not need to use scrollbars or something like that - just put your mouse to the bottom of a submenu and it will be automatically scrolled! Q: I can’t seem to figure out how to keep last clicked item in my java menu script marked.

I use these options:

pressedItem = -1

A: The menu has only two states normal and mouseover.

Try to do the following things:

- delete   var pressedItem=1; parameter from your data file
- set correct parameter on each page before you call data file, forexample:

You can also set a pressed item using Javascript API:
function dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)

Sets a current pressed item.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
submenuInd - index of a submenu, >= 0.
itemInd - index of an item, >=0.
recursion = true/false - highlight parent items.

But notice, to use dm_ext_setPressedItem() you should know ID of selected item and subitem.
You can't get this ID after you reload your page. That is why you should write your own code on PHP.


Q: What I would like is a link inside the popup window that closes the mouseover popup window. I tried moving the "close" link from the main page into the popup window html but I get a Javascript error when I click on that link.

A: See, if you load a different page in your popup window (iframe) suchlink won't work in it.

If you add the content of the mouseover popup window in DIV (so, it will be thesame page) such link will work.

Q: I'm having a problem displaying a little white icon arrow on my dhtml foldout menu. I us Adobe Dreamweaver to build my site. When previewing, I found that adding . /.. to the .js file works good and it displays the arrows. But when I Put the menu on the internet it goes back to displaying a blank box like it can t find it again. My menu is in my site's root directory, and I would like to control all my site's pages with it. I am going to have a basic template for the whole site with the dhtml foldout menu on it and I am to building all the pages from that.

If I don't change the link to ../../ the only pages that will work is the one that is in the same directory as my menu files.

A: Try to use absolute paths to your images on the website. Your menu will work correctly inall cases in that case.

Q: Is there a way we can add javascript behaviors to the popup menu in java actions? For example, is there a way we can add an onClick function to a popup menu in java item (eg, onClick="return MyFunction( )" ) so that we can catch and process key events?

I'm really hoping there's a way of doing this...

A: Unfortunately, you can't assign onmouseover/onClick/onContextMenu event to each item. However, you can achieve this by using standard html objects within popup menu in java items, for example:

You can use your own Javascript code instead standard links. For example:
