A: Please, check the following parameters:
  var itemTarget="_self"; //default target

You can set target parameter for each item.

A: You should paste "javascript:some_function()" into item's link field, for example:

A: You cannot use "" symbols within menuItems. It is not correct.
Try to write your javascript drop down menu items in the following way:
