Q: Is there maybe a way that I can set up the menu so that it does not load at all until someone clicks on, say, a link, such as 'Products' and clicking on that link would then load the java menu buttons onto the page in the desired position?
A: Yes, you can do it.
Delete dm_init(); function from data file and use OnClick event foryour 'Products' link.
<a href="products.html" OnClick="dm_init();">Products</a>
Q: Pls help me with another question.
I have an horizontal menu in which the submenus drop down (as in example # 1 you have in your web).
For the first level items (which are horizontal), I do not want item spacing or itemPadding, that is:
var itemSpacing=0;
var itemPadding=0;
However, for the second and third level menu items, that drop down, I do need spacing and padding, like this:
var itemSpacing=1;
var itemPadding=1;
How can achieve this if, we have only one set of parameters??
Thank you very much and best regards
A: You should use Individual Styles.
You should set the following parameters:
var itemSpacing = 0;
var itemPadding = 0;
and create individual style for submenus
var menuStyles = [
["menuBackImage=images/subm_back.gif","itemSpacing=1","itemPadding=1"], // add Spacing and Padding to the style which is used for the third level menu items.
["columnPerSubmenu=2"],
["itemSpacing=1","itemPadding=1"], //style 2
];
You should assign this style for the second and third level menu items
["DHTML Menus","", "images/icon1.gif", "images/icon1o.gif", , , , , , , , ],
["|The Deluxe Menu","http://deluxe-menu.com",
"images/icon2.gif", "images/icon2o.gif", , , , "2", , , , ], // assign Style 2
["||Features","", "images/icon3.gif", , , , "0", "0", , , , ], // assign Style 0
["|||First Column","", , , , , "0", "1", , , , ],
["|||Second Column","", , , , , "0", , , , , ],
["||Cross-frame Mode","", "images/icon5.gif", "images/icon5o.gif", , , "1", , , , , ],
["||Easy Installation","", "images/icon5.gif", "images/icon5o.gif", , , "1", , , , , ],

Q: I am generating a conference website which I though will be out as soon as possible but you javascript menu generator has become impossible to insert in my page, here attached in a sample page, it is basic html, so tell me where am going wrong.
Or otherwise insert it for me.
A: Now you have:
<style type="text/css">
<!-- Deluxe Menu -->
<noscript><a href="http://deluxe-menu.com">Javascript Menu by Deluxe-Menu.com</a></noscript>
<script type="text/javascript"> var dmWorkPath = "data.files/";</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="data.files/dmenu.js"></script>
<!-- (c) 2007, by Deluxe-Menu.com -->
</style>
It is not correct.
You should write:
<style type="text/css">
</style>
<!-- Deluxe Menu -->
<noscript><a href="http://deluxe-menu.com">Javascript Menu by Deluxe-Menu.com</a></noscript>
<script type="text/javascript"> var dmWorkPath = "data.files/";</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="data.files/dmenu.js"></script>
<!-- (c) 2007, by Deluxe-Menu.com -->
Q: The menu has a problem with newlines. The menu builds correctly (layout ok) but when pressed on the button nothing happens
At some point, in the DHTML menu, we have the following in the javascript:
var menuitems = [
["|Print HTML","javascript:alert('HTML print: Only the 7 most recent orders on the screen \n will be printed because of space limitations on paper.');printResult('4'); ","","", ,"_parent",,] ]
As you can see we have a newline (\n) between the words "screen" and "will". But when we click on the button nothing happens. If we remove the newline and we click on the button then we first get the alert box. After pressing the OK button the function printResult is called.
Is there any way for us to still use the newline character in the menuItems variable?
This can be easily reproducible. That's why I haven't made an example.
A: Try to write in the following way \\n:
["|Print HTML","javascript:alert('HTML print: Only the 7 most recent orders on the screen \\n will be printed because of space limitations on paper.');printResult('4'); ","","", ,"_parent",,]
