Q: We currentlly have a menu that uses standard html hyperlinks to open a new window with _blank as the target. Unfortunately, the size of the window is controlled by the browser and we want to be able to control it. The only way that we know how to do that is to use the window.open client-side function and pass the window's dimensions. Here is a sample of the code that would do that:
window.open("url","_blank","height=1024,width=768,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no");
How can we add the javascript code to the down menus css instead of a link? Do you have any samples?
A: You can use javascript code within menuItems, for example
["Test Window","javascript:window.open('http://www.microsoft.com','_blank','height=1024,width=768,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no');", , ,'Monitor Exceptions' , ,'0', '0',,],
Q: I've purchased the mac style tabs. I've spent countless hours trying to get it to work, no luck so far. I've gotten jscript tabs to look okay on page, but links between pages do not work. I've even gotten them to work, but they were simple text menu's; not jscript tabs. But I haven't gotten the tabbed menu to work. Checked and tripled cheeked the instructions, still no luck.
I've uploaded the files to a test server.
There are four files cameron,carl,grace, and chantel; these are simple identical two column pages to test the links between tabs. NO LUCK. I'm about to give up on your program, can you please help.
A: You're using
var tabMode=0;
now. That means that you should use content DIV's ID instead of thelink.
If you want to open links you should write links in the following way:
["Cameron","link:cameron.html", "", "", "", "", "", "", "", ],
["Grace","link:grace.html", "", "", "", "", "", "", "", ],
["Carl","link:carl.html", "", "", "", "", "", "", "", ],
["Chantel","link:chantel.html", "", "", "", "", "", "", "", ],
Q: I'm trying to evaluate the possiblity of using your menu in our product. Can we specify our own onclick event handler for the menu item?
A: You're able to use Javascript for each item, for example:
var menuitems = [
["item text", "javascript:your_code_here"]
];
Unfortunately, you can't assign onmouseover/onClick event to each item.
However, you can achieve this by using standard html objects within items, for example:
var menuitems = [
["<div onClick='your_code_here'>item text</div>", "index.html"]
];
Q: I am using javascript dropdown menu - Deluxe Menu 2.0 and have some problem with the doctype declaration.
Is there any need to classify a certain doctype in order to get the menu working correctly?
If we use the XML declaration (like this: "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">)
the padding and margin settings of the submenus get lost.
Are there any known solution to fix this?
A: Yes, it happens if you don't specify units in "px" for some dropdown menu parameters.
Please, try to write so:
var itemPadding="2px";
